Delta inspiring next generation of aviators through National Flight Academy

By Corporate Communications staff

Delta is sponsoring an essay contest for children of employees and the 100 winners will get the experience of a lifetime this summer at the National Flight Academy in Pensacola, Fla.  Attendees will participate in a dynamic six-day program at the National Flight Academy from July 17-22.

Through the National Flight Academy partnership Delta is investing in STEM education – science, technology, engineering and mathematics  – and, potentially, the next generation of aviators. Students will engage in hands-on learning designed to inspire learning in the STEM fields.

The National Flight Academy brings the latest in multisensory media and simulation technologies to create an immersive naval aviator experience like none other aboard the world’s only virtual land-locked aircraft carrier, AMBITION. Their teaching methods cultivate 21st-century workforce skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and team building.

For more on the educational principles of the program, see the National Flight Academy’s website.

In a thank you letter, one student wrote, “Mission planning and learning to work with my co-pilot taught me the invaluable skills of teamwork and decision making.”
