LET’S FINISH THIS WEEK STRONG!

Last Week of School | Update Center

Our Partners at the East Lake Foundation presents a 1-day Summer Leadership Program that will introduce young adults to the insurance world.  The target audience is rising juniors and seniors in HS, and collage of students of any age.  The insurance industry is a large employer and there are some great risk management schools here in Georgia, including Georgia State and UGA.  Having said that, you do not need to be a risk management major to enter the industry.  The industry is looking for young talent with diverse educational backgrounds.

If you have a child that might be interested, please have them register with Sarah Magee at smagee@sspins.com.   Thank you for considering and we look forward to meeting everyone.

Drew Opportunity Fund

Did you know you could double (or even triple!) your donation to Drew Charter School?  Many companies will match charitable donations made by their employees.  See if your workplace offers a matching gift program here! #ForwardTogether

The Drew Opportunity Fund is delighted to announce its latest round of support!  Generous donations provided:

  • Seed funding for the morning shuttle pilot program
  • The cost of parent volunteer background checks
  • And, through gifts made in memory of beloved staff member Harold Woods, funding for 40 students to participate in the Book Fair!

We are currently raising funds to provide each grade with $250 for end of the year activities.  Help us keep up the good work by making a tax-deductible donation today! -> https://bit.ly/3HxCTH2

Parent Survey Link is LIVE!

The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) wants to hear from all parents of students with disabilities.  Each year the GaDOE reports on Indicator 8: The percentage of parents who report that the school facilitated parent involvement. The GaDOE uses a survey that is disseminated statewide to measure this indicator.  This your time to give feedback and your participation is both important and valued. The ten-questions electronic survey is available online only. Our goal is to have 100% participation!

The survey link will be open until May 31, 2023.

Is one of your goals to get more involved in your kid’s school? We have just the opportunity for you! The PTA is looking for Nominating Committee members. This is an easy gig! The nominating committee nominates the PTA Executive Board members for the 2023-2024 school year. The work takes place from now through the end of April and is mainly done via email and a few face-to-face or zoom conversations. There will be guidance and support along the way. Typically, high school is the time when young Eagles are maturing and are prepared to fly on their own. Encourage this independent practice. They will still need the watchful eye to guide them in their development and learning. Please do so during breaks and refrain from interrupting live instruction for the benefit of the students and teachers. The slideshow will include some additional ways you can support your learner in the virtual environment.
