Thank you for a very productive week! Each person’s contribution and positive outlook makes a difference in how we serve our students, our parents, our families, our teachers, our staff , and our community. Please know that we appreciate how you show up every day with the aptitude and attitude to be a positive influence. Also, know that we appreciate your resilience, patience, and assistance as we work with our students to create positive alternatives and build a culture inside and outside of school that promotes connectedness.

Asynchronous/ Conference Day at Drew Charter School
We want to remind you that Friday, August 26th, is an Asynchronous/ Conference Day at Drew Charter School. There will be no in-person or live virtual learning on this day, so students should plan to work independently at home.
To ensure a productive learning experience for your student on this Asynchronous Day, please be mindful of the following:
Students in Pre-K through second grade will receive hardcopy assignments to complete at home;
Assignments for students in grades 3 through 12 will be posted on Google Classroom;
Any technology devices distributed to students for use on this day must be returned to school on August 29th.
Pre-scheduled parent-teacher conferences will occur virtually on this day. If you haven’t received conference sign-up information from your student’s academy, please look for details in the next few days.
If you have other questions or need additional information about Asynchronous/Conference Day, don’t hesitate to contact your student’s academy principal and deans.
DREW PARENTS & FAMILY WE’RE IS EXCITED TO WELCOME YOU!
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT FAIR
Dear Drew Parents and Families,
We are very excited to invite you to join us for our Family Engagement Fair to learn more about how parents/families can be involved at Drew. The Family Engagement Fair is an in-person event that will take place on Thursday, August 25th, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, in the cafeteria of the Yates Campus (the JA/SA campus).
Representatives from Drew’s PTA, Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), Drew Dads, and Parent Equity Committee (PEC) will be available to answer questions and help you get connected. We have also invited some of our new school partners to share other opportunities to get your families engaged this year at Drew.
If you have questions, please contact our Culture and Equity Family Liaison, Sherrie Charles—sherrie.charles@drewcharterschool.org.
Based on the current CDC guidance regarding local COVID-19 Community Levels, we will continue our mask requirement for staff and visitors. Students are also strongly encouraged to wear masks since we are still in a high community transmission area. This requirement is based on the most current CDC guidance and information regarding transmission levels for Dekalb and Fulton counties, which can be viewed here.
If your student has been testing with Viral Solutions over the past few weeks, they are already in the system and there is no need for them to opt-in again.Stay safe!

Please note: Returning to campus tests must be conducted no earlier than 2 days from when you plan to be present on campus, please submit test results via the link above if using external testing site.

LET’S TALK PHOTOGRAPHY!
Over the last few weeks our students have been learning how to capture so many amazing moments behind the lense within the classroom and around our academy. Mr. Parker, our photography teacher and camera guru, has been instrumental in allowing our students to advocate their photographic autonomy, while facilitating his non-hands on instruction of every frame! Please take a moment and view some of the creative images our students have created. You’re sure to see the magic behind every CLICK!

Typically, high school is the time when young Eagles are maturing and are prepared to fly on their own. Encourage this independent practice. They will still need the watchful eye to guide them in their development and learning. Please do so during breaks and refrain from interrupting live instruction for the benefit of the students and teachers. The slideshow will include some additional ways you can support your learner in the virtual environment.
