Spreadsheets for Science with Georgia Tech Workshop

Technology has changed how students learn and some applications are confusing for students, parents, and teachers. But don’t worry, Georgia Tech students are here to help!

The Spreadsheets for Science workshop will include a short presentation and a practice activity completed in breakout rooms of small groups of 3 or 4 students. The workshop will help you utilize basic Sheets functions, record and interpret data, and create graphs for science fair, STEM classes, and more. This workshop is for any student or adult looking to further their understanding of Google Sheets, although it will focus on skills needed for Science Fair participation.

Thank you everyone for your participation and engagement in our grade level nights and parent conferences this year.

We wish to first acknowledge the tremendous work of students, families, and staff during this virtual school year.

Parents thank you for patience and flexibility as we closed out this past week. Throughout the city families and businesses experienced power outage as well as some damage. I am hopeful that everyone is safe and has restored power. As we continue in our E-learning environment, please feel free to reach out to teachers, counselors, and/or administration if your student needs support with participating in the Virtual Learning environment. ~ K. Myers

Typically, high school is the time when young Eagles are maturing and are prepared to fly on their own. Encourage this independent practice. They will still need the watchful eye to guide them in their development and learning. Please do so during breaks and refrain from interrupting live instruction for the benefit of the students and teachers. The slideshow will include some additional ways you can support your learner in the virtual environment.

Intent to Play [In Relation to All Sports]

I recognize that this is a difficult time for parents and students. The level of uncertainty is troubling and at times can feel overwhelming. I encourage you to contact our counselors if you or your student need support.

You can also receive support via a free, confidential Crisis Text Line, with trained Crisis Counselors, by texting SHARE to 741741. (This is a national resource that is available 24/7).

Drew Opportunity Fund

While COVID-19 put a wrinkle in our plans to sell a special, 18-month celebration calendar in honor of Drew’s 20th birthday, we’ve recently received several inquiries indicating that there is still interest!

The school holidays/breaks indicated in the calendar may no longer be correct, but the artwork provided by students and staff is still spot-on. The perfect addition to brighten up anyone’s home or office!

Calendars can be purchased here for $10 and all proceeds will benefit the Drew Opportunity Fund.

“When Drew launched the Opportunity Fund, I had no idea how pivotal it would be in supporting our families. The relief that we have been able to provide our community through support with groceries, utilities, mental health services and childcare has been wonderful. It has truly shown that while we may be separate right now, we are never disconnected from one another. The Drew Opportunity Fund keeps the continuum of care thriving beyond the walls of the school. I love to see it!”

-Ronitia Hodges, Project Facilitator, Student Services

When you make a tax-deductible donation to the Drew Opportunity Fund, you help to ensure we can continue to respond to the ever-changing needs of our students, teachers, and families. Let’s keep up the great work. #WeAreDrew
