Purpose – Drew Charter School serves as a key component of the cradle-to-college pipeline within the holistic East Lake neighborhood revitalization. Appreciating our unique status as a mixed-income school, Drew Charter School’s primary purpose is to provide an excellent education to all children living in the Villages of East Lake so that each student reaches his or her full potential and is launched on a pathway to health, impact and prosperity.

- Senior Niara Botchwey (pictured above), who will skip the State Science Fair and qualified for the International Science and Engineering Festival!
- Ms. Izin, who will be serving as a long-term Special Education substitute for Dr. Morgan’s caseload until the end of the school year!
- Alumnus Renaldo Clark (c/o 2017) who just received an Accounting Internship with Home Depot! He’s a current sophomore at Morehouse!
- The following students who participated in UGA’s JanFest Concert Band Festival: Adammah Reynolds, Trinitee Reynolds, KaNiya Smith, Asia Foster, Amaya Carzell, and Corey Jones. These students did an amazing job and represented Drew very well! You can listen to their concerts at http://bands.uga.edu/janfest. They were in the Brown, Wilson, Clark, and Willoughby bands.
- Junior Alexis Gaines for being selected by 21st Century Leaders (a Georgia-based non-profit youth leadership and talent development program) as a 2019 Georgia Leadership Award Recipient! She is one of only 21 youth leaders across Georgia to receive this distinguished recognition for their community-wide impact!
- Junior Terron Joiner, for being selected as a Finalist for the Youth Ambassadors Program! He will be traveling to Paraguay this summer with the US Department of State!
- Junior Malik Mohammed for being selected as an alternate for the Youth Ambassadors Program!
- Freshman Aryka DeRosa’s had an outstanding performance on her Physics assessment this week!
- Freshman Chanel Harris who recently had the highest score on an AP Unit Test!
- Freshmen Ja’Kobe Strozier and DJ Rogers for showing tremendous growth on the basketball court!

- The Georgia Parent Survey contains 24 questions and may be completed using personal computers, smartphones or tablets. All parents should participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. - SA PTA Parent Gatherings – On January 17th, we hosted our monthly PTA Senior Academy Parent Gathering on the topic of “Student Portfolios.” These gatherings typically occur every third Thursday of the month, alternating between 8:15 am and 5:00 pm. Our next Gathering will be held on Thursday, February 28th at 8:15 am (not the third Thursday due to the Winter Break).

- Lottery Application Window for New Students Opens February 1st – If your student has a sibling who is interested in attending Drew, the lottery application window for potential new students is from February 1, 2019 – April 30, 2019. The online application will be available on Drew’s website beginning February 1, and all qualifying applications will be included in the lottery on May 9th. Please note that the lottery is for potential new students only; all current Drew students will have the opportunity to re-enroll in March (more details to come). Established in 2001 by author T.A. Barron, the Barron Prize annually honors 25 outstanding young leaders ages 8 to 18 who have made a significant positive impact on people, their communities, and the environment.
