A message from our Senior Academy Principal:
Welcome Senior Academy Families,
The first day of school is almost here. We look forward to welcoming students to campus this upcoming Monday, July 24th. This week we will engage in academic and fun activities across campus to welcome students back from summer break.
The entire team is excited to receive your students. We understand that entering high school (1st year or 4th year) is a time filled with emotions for families and students. Some students are eager to see their friends or enter their next year of high school. Some are just hoping they find their first period. We will be there to guide students through it all.
We encourage parents to please plan to arrive prior to the start of 1st period so that your student may receive this guidance and be in attendance for learning on time. Classes will start promptly at 8:15 am. All students should prepare to come to campus in shirt, tie, and khakis (pants or skirt).
*All students are required to be in uniform (see uniform policy). Any family with uniform concern or needs should reach out to Tameka.allen@drewcharteschool.org or Avery.roberson@drewcharterschool.org.
Let’s prepare for a fun-filled academic year ahead! What time is it? EAGLE TIME!
Yours in Service,
K. Myers
Senior Academy Principal
EAGLES, IT’S TIME TO GET IN SHAPE!
This year we’re getting in S.H.A.P.E. and reviving our Senior Academy norms. By getting into S.H.A.P.E we plan to:
Seek to Understand Others – show empathy for differences and serve others
Honor Trust – show integrity and honesty
Act Responsibly – good judgement, good decisions, and be accountable
Present Professionally – uniform on properly and take pride in how your presentation
Evaluate Self – build skills to regulate and deal with emotions
This year we all will work together to focus on S.H.A.P.E. – ing up for the school year.
Happy Reading,
As the Media Specialist at Drew Charter Junior and Senior Academy, together we can work to provide the skills and knowledge for our students to become accomplished readers, independent learners, critical thinkers, and informed global citizens. We will work to make our Learning Commons/Media Center not only an important venue, but also a space where learning happens above the level of a single classroom.
With last year’s success of our Drew Eagle Book Club, Senior Academy Book Buddies and our Accelerated Reader Program, we wish to continue promoting a love for literacy.
