Week of August 13th, 2018

Purpose – Drew Charter School serves as a key component of the cradle-to-college pipeline within the holistic East Lake neighborhood revitalization. Appreciating our unique status as a mixed-income school, Drew Charter School’s primary purpose is to provide an excellent education to all children living in the Villages of East Lake so that each student reaches his or her full potential and is launched on a pathway to health, impact and prosperity.

Shout Outs:

  • Jayla Sirmons (pictured above) for helping a new ninth grade student learn how to tie his tie!
  • Mr. Copp for his efforts with students in the Learning Lab!  Students are coming to class prepared and are doing well on quizzes and class assignments!
  • Ms. Buford-Duffie and Mr. Robinson, our new 10th grade special education teachers, for their excellent co-teaching with general education teachers!
  • Ms. Nguyen and Ms. Simmons for their creativity in developing and piloting the new integrated Chemistry/Visual Art course named “ChemVAS”!
  • Ms Stinson and all of our staff whose work led to 82.5% of seniors being eligible for Early College!  This is the highest percentage that we have ever had and getting closer to our goal of 100%!
  • Ms. Ricks and all of the Book Buddies for organizing the Summer Reading Celebration on Friday!
